Former NFL head coach Sean Payton knows a thing or two about talking to game officials.
There are times when he will engage in small talk with these individuals.
But at the height of the game, he might have complained about a lot of penalties.
Payton did not take any infraction lightly and tried to plead his case with the men in black and white.
Now that he is off of the sidelines, he is still letting the officials hear his thoughts on a controversial roughing the passer call in Week 5.
Awful call @Chiefs @Raiders game. @NFLOfficiating needs lots of work on roughing the passer!!

Payton tweeted, “Awful call @Chiefs @Raiders game.@NFLOfficiating. Needs lots of work on roughing the passer!!”
Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones got to Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr in the second quarter of their Week 5 Monday Night Football encounter.
But instead of calling it a sack for Jones, the officials tagged him with roughing the passer.
An argument can be made that Jones made a clean hit because Carr still had the ball when he arrived.
He did not have any unnecessary moves and bear-hugged Carr to the ground.
Luckily for the Chiefs, that penalty did not have a massive impact on the game’s outcome, unlike the one that happened in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Atlanta Falcons game.
Grady Jarrett Could Have Been The Hero
Grady Jarrett was able to hit quarterback Tom Brady late in the fourth quarter.
However, his roughing the passer call came on third down, and the Falcons could have started a drive to get the victory.
Instead, the Buccaneers were able to milk the clock until there was no time left.
Therefore, it’s a call that can change a game’s complexion and must be addressed.
