Ever since the Buffalo Bills drafted superstar quarterback Josh Allen in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft with the No. 7 overall pick, the team has been on the upswing as the storied franchise has gotten better offensively year after year.
Unfortunately, Allen hasn’t been able to lead this Bills squad to the Super Bowl, with the Kansas City Chiefs always seemingly in the way when it comes to the NFL playoffs, as Patrick Mahomes and company always have the edge over Buffalo.
Last season, the Bills seemed to have their best chances of making it to the big game, with the team firing on all cylinders during the second half of the season, leading to an AFC East division title and a lot of confidence heading into the playoffs.
Despite having a home-field advantage against the Chiefs this time around, Buffalo fell flat once again against their rivals, as Allen couldn’t get the job done once again against Mahomes and his squad, who went on to win a second straight Super Bowl title.
With another flameout in the postseason, Allen was bound to get some criticism, which has resulted in head coach Sean McDermott coming to his defense and saying it’s “narrow-minded to say the Bills haven’t succeeded without a Super Bowl” via Pro Football Talk.
“To say we haven’t had success or Josh hasn’t had success, I think would be kind of narrow-minded,” McDermott said.

Fortunately for McDermott and Allen, the Bills are still a very talented team and will almost continue to be a force to be reckoned with in the AFC as they try to win that elusive Vince Lombardi Trophy.
Only time will tell if Allen is the right man for the job under center in Buffalo and what kind of success the team can have moving forward.
