The NFL’s trade deadline is set for 4:00 PM EST on October 31st.
This is a time for potential contending teams to acquire talent that helps them take the next step, while other teams can be sellers, getting value for the future.
The Seattle Seahawks announced to the league that they are buyers with their recent trade for Leonard Williams, one of the first moves near the deadline.
Williams came over from the New York Giants, a team that does not seem to be contending this year.
He comes as a much-needed boost to the Seahawks’ defense, which Ryan Clark recently highlighted on the NFL on ESPN.
“You fortify this defense for one reason and one reason only,” Clark said, adding, “You say to yourself, we have a chance to win a championship.”

Clark believes that the Seahawks have a general understanding of where they find themselves in the NFC.
The Seahawks are currently in first place in the NFC West, taking advantage of the San Francisco 49ers’ recent struggles.
With this in mind, adding a player of Williams’ caliber can be the difference between making a playoff berth and having a significant impact on the postseason.
For a team that is known for a strong defense, this move has helped the Seahawks get richer on that side of the ball.
Depth is critical for every team knowing how often players get injured in the NFL, especially on defense.
Williams will look to make an immediate impact on this team for the rest of the season.
