The New York Knicks had been pursuing OG Anunoby for quite some time now and they finally got their target in a recent trade with the Toronto Raptors.
The Knicks sent RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, and a 2024 second-round pick to the Raptors to acquire Anunoby via trade.
While most are focusing on Anunoby’s new chapter in his career, the same can also be said for RJ Barrett, who is finally playing in his country.
After being traded to the Raptors, Barrett shared his honest thoughts on the move and how he has always been a fan of the organization via NBACentral on Twitter.
“I grew up a Raptors fan all my life,” Barrett revealed.
“I grew up a Raptors fan all my life. So to come here and put the jersey on, it's going to be great.” ❤️

Barrett revealed that he grew up a fan of the Toronto Raptors, and it’s an honor to get a chance to play for the franchise.
On top of that, the former third overall pick also assured that his stint with the Raptors will be great.
Prior to being traded to the Raptors, Barrett had played his entire career for the Knicks and averaged a solid 18.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists for the team.
However, one of the glaring errors in his game has been his low shooting average.
RJ Barrett shot 42.2% from the field and 34.2% from the three-point line during his stint with the New York Knicks.
Considering the Toronto Raptors are in search of a player who can be a solid support for Pascal Siakam, the organization will hope to see Barrett improve on that aspect of his game.
A fresh start to his career could finally help Barrett reach his full potential.
