The Las Vegas Raiders went against the trend in the 2025 NFL Draft.
They ignored all the red flags and warnings about taking a running back early in the first round.
Of course, that’s because Ashton Jeanty isn’t like most prospects.
He’s coming off one of the greatest seasons by any running back in college football history.
And according to Pro Football Focus, he’s going to make an immediate impact in the league.
His betting prop for rushing yards is set at 1,050.5, and PFF’s model has him eclipsing that mark with ease at 1,221.

Some expressed concerns about Jeanty because of the lack of high-end competition he faced during his days at Boise State, especially considering that he didn’t look as dominant in a Bowl Game.
Then again, there’s nothing not to like about his tape, and he should be in for a featured role right out of the gate.
New head coach Pete Carroll is known for establishing the run and deploying a run-first attack, and Jeanty will have a creative offensive coordinator in Chip Kelly pulling the strings of the offense.
The Raiders already have a young star leading the way on offense in TE Brock Bowers, who made a strong impression in his first year in the league.
They also improved their quarterback situation by trading for Geno Smith.
And while they still have a long way to go to return to playoff contention, it looks like this team is heading in the right direction for the first time in years.
