The Detroit Pistons have been one of the worst franchises in the NBA for quite some time, with the team constantly looking to the NBA Draft rather than the NBA playoffs at this time of year.
The 2022-23 NBA season was no different for the struggling Pistons, even with a roster that seems to be improving from season to season with young talents like Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey and Killian Hayes.
As the Pistons limp toward the end of the regular season, with an ugly losing record of 16-62, general manager Troy Weaver sent out a message to the franchise’s fanbase about the direction the team is headed.

The Pistons are currently one of the few teams in the league with a decent chance of being big winners in the upcoming 2023 NBA Draft Lottery.
Every struggling team that failed to make the playoffs will turn its attention to the 2023 NBA Draft, hoping to bring in French phenom Victor Wembanyama or Scoot Henderson of the NBA G League Ignite.
Wembanyama is the big prize in the draft, as many believe he could be a legitimate superstar right out of the gate and quickly turn around a struggling franchise like the Pistons.
Detroit would be an ideal landing spot for Wembanyama, as the team could build around him, Cunningham and Ivey with high hopes of being a threat in the Eastern Conference in the near future.
The Pistons will hope the ping pong balls bounce the team’s way on May 16, with every team in the running for Wembanyama drooling at the prospect of having the opportunity to draft him on June 22.NEXT: James Wiseman Comments On Starting Over
