The playoffs are quickly approaching and the Western Conference is filled with a lot of great competitors.
However, one team is surging in a way that should put others on notice.
Speaking with Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce said the Lakers will be “dangerous” during the playoffs, specifically because of how well LeBron James and Luka Doncic are playing together.
On top of those two, the Lakers also have Austin Reaves, who is performing as well as many teams’ second-best player.
Between James, Doncic, Reaves, and the team’s growing confidence, the Lakers should scare everyone else in the West, according to Pierce.

Lakers looking like a serious problem this year! The way Luka and LeBron’s chemistry is coming together so fast, with Austin Reaves locking in as that third option—oh yes, Lord, they gon’ be dangerous come… pic.twitter.com/JoViET4VVd

Both Pierce and Garnett laughed at the thought of James being the Lakers’ second option.
It’s wild to imagine that someone as talented and powerful as James isn’t LA’s number-one player but that’s the situation the Lakers are in.
Doncic is the future of the team and is their number-one option, even though James is a close second and still more impactful at times.
The one-two punch of Doncic and James might be too much for most other Western Conference teams.
But that’s not all the Lakers have because their bench players have gotten better and their defense is supreme lately.
On both ends of the court, the Lakers are performing powerfully.
It’ll be vital that they keep it up and don’t slip or get injured.
But this stretch of great games isn’t a fluke or flash in the pan.
This team is the real deal and they should be taken seriously.
The scariest part of all this is that the Lakers might actually get better between now and the playoffs because Doncic will have more time to get comfortable and find even more rhythm and chemistry with James.
