NBA trade season is finally picking up as the Indiana Pacers swung the biggest deal of the 2023-24 NBA season so far, acquiring Pascal Siakam from the Toronto Raptors.
The Raptors finally decided to become sellers earlier in the season when they traded away OG Anunoby to the New York Knicks, but dealing Siakam means they’re ready to embrace a rebuild.
For the Pacers, landing Siakam boosts their postseason chances immensely as he’s a natural fit in the frontcourt alongside Myles Turner.
Siakam also meshes well with Tyrese Haliburton who has blossomed into a legitimate superstar.
Haliburton and Siakam make for one of the best fastbreak tandems in the entire league and the two should be a headache for teams backpedaling in transition.
However, it appears that Haliburton also had dreams of playing alongside Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George via Jake Fischer of Yahoo.
“They were intrigued, from my understanding, about the idea of playing together,” Fischer said.

George is quite familiar with Indiana since that is where he began his NBA career, and a potential pairing with Haliburton would’ve been a sight to see.
However, the Clippers will not be dealing George anytime soon given how well the team has been playing the past couple of months.
Los Angeles is all-in on a championship given the age on their roster and this could very well be the best opportunity yet since both Kawhi Leonard and George are healthy at the same time.
A reunion with the Pacers would’ve been fun, but Haliburton, Siakam, and the rest of the team are still in a good spot.
