Patriots Reportedly Set To Have A Surprising Play-Caller In 2022

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is regarded as a football savant.

It would be difficult to match the level of success he’s had in Foxborough, especially those six Super Bowls.

However, trouble seems to be brewing within the once-mighty empire.

Belichick and the Patriots had to fill the spot that Josh McDaniels vacated after becoming the Las Vegas Raiders’ head coach.

With Belichick, he was responsible for calling plays on offense.

But now that he gets another head coaching opportunity, the Patriots suddenly have no one to replace McDaniels.

The long-time mentor struggled to find a successor for that important position.

The ordeal might be over as NFL insider Dov Kleiman revealed an interesting choice for McDaniels’ former spot.

Patricia was recently fired after a failed stint as the #Lions head coach, finishing with a record of 13-29.

Kleiman tweeted, “The #Patriots offensive play-caller this season is “trending in Matt Patricia’s direction” a source tells
@jeffphowe. Patricia was recently fired after a failed stint as the #Lions head coach, finishing with a record of 13-29. Belichick hasn’t named an official OC yet for 2022.”

Each sentence of that update contained nothing but concern.

First, Patricia is better off doing something on defense because he has been on that side for so long.

It’s difficult to suddenly switch sides, especially since offensive play-calling needs a ton of creativity.

No OC, More Problems

Likewise, Patricia’s failed tenure with the Lions indicates that he’s not the man for the position.

Instead, the Patriots must bring in new minds that will revolutionize their strategy.

It will be difficult for the Patriots to move forward without an offensive coordinator.

They should have a point person for all decisions regarding that unit, whether it succeeds or fails.

Otherwise, even the players might get confused about what to do next if the plays are coming from different sources.
