Veteran power forward Aaron Gordon of the Denver Nuggets has had an interesting career in the NBA, as at one point, after being selected with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, he was considered to be the face of the Orlando Magic and potential superstar in the making.
Unfortunately for Gordon, superstar status never came, even though he put on a show in the Dunk Contest and became known for his incredible ability to play above the rim.
Gordon was never able to get the Magic on track as a force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference and was ultimately traded to the Nuggets in 2021, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise for him.
The former University of Arizona star turned out to be the perfect fit for the Nuggets, as he fit in seamlessly in the frontcourt alongside superstar center Nikola Jokic and went on to win an NBA title in Denver.
With Gordon resurrecting his career in Denver, he was contacted by Team USA to play in the 2024 Olympics, but apparently, things didn’t work out, as there was no follow-up from the initial inquiry, which didn’t sit well with the Nuggets star via NBA Central.
“I was asked if I wanted to play for USA and then the call never came around,” Gordon said. “There was a little bit of salt there in the first place.”

It seems that the bitterness of never getting another call back from Team USA motivated his interest in the 2024 Olympics, as he was cheering on his Nuggets teammate Jokic, whose Serbian team almost beat the Americans in the semifinals.
Although Gordon will likely think twice about any interest from Team USA in the future, the veteran forward can now focus on the upcoming NBA season as Denver looks to bounce back from a second-round exit in the NBA playoffs last season.
