The Tennessee Titans gave wide receiver Josh Gordon a chance to resurrect his once-promising NFL career.
Unfortunately, as NFL Network national insider Ian Rapoport shared, the team thought they are better off without him.
The #Titans are releasing WR Josh Gordon off their practice squad, source said. He played in two games and did not record any stats.

Rapoport tweeted, “The #Titans are releasing WR Josh Gordon off their practice squad, source said. He played in two games and did not record any stats.”
Gordon played two games this season but did not have a single reception in 24 offensive snaps.
His recent release makes him a free agent, but it’s difficult to see Gordon having another shot in the NFL.
Gordon’s recent performances are a steep fall from grace from the athlete he once was.
The former Baylor standout burst onto the scene when he had 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns in his second year with the Cleveland Browns.
Those numbers earned him an All-Pro and a Pro Bowl nod.
Sadly, everything went south for Gordon since that year, especially because he battled substance abuse.
As a result, he was suspended from the league multiple times and wasn’t the same explosive wideout anymore.
Aside from the Browns and the Titans, Gordon also suited up for the Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks, and New England Patriots.
Gordon was a part of the Patriots squad that won Super Bowl LIII against the Los Angeles Rams.
Current Titans Depth Chart At Wide Receiver
With Gordon out of the rotation, the Titans have six wideouts left on their active roster.
Robert Woods, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, and Kyle Philips are their starters.
Cody Hollister is their reserve, while Treylon Burks and Racey McMath are both on injured reserve.
The Titans rank 28th in passing yards, averaging 175.4 per game.
