For years, the biggest NBA stars have taken the world by storm by teaming up with Team USA to dominate in the Olympics and the FIBA World Cup.
That long-withstanding tradition has seen some of the greatest players of all time taking their talents together to bring the gold back home.
This time, however, we’re entering a bit of a transition phase, which is why the days of Kevin Durant, LeBron James, or Stephen Curry wreaking havoc with the national team are a thing of the past.
Instead, it’ll be the turn of some of the younger faces of the league to prove themselves at the international level.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Austin Reaves (Los Angeles Lakers), Bobby Portis (Milwaukee Bucks), Jalen Brunson (New York Knicks), Mikal Bridges (Brooklyn Nets), Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers), and Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves) have already committed to play for Team USA in the upcoming FIBA World Cup.
The tournament will take place in the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia from August 25 to September 10.
Notably, the 12-man roster has yet to be completed.
This will be the first time that new USA Basketball managing director Grant Hill, GM Sean Ford, and coach Steve Kerr lead the reins after arguably the most successful days in Team USA’s history.
Team USA will start training camp in Las Vegas in August, and they’ll play an exhibition game vs. Puerto Rico four days later before heading to Spain and the United Emirates to continue their preparation ahead of the big tournament.
