The Texas Rangers were busy over the winter and made sure to address their biggest weakness, that being their starting rotation.
And so, they added some valuable pieces to the puzzle, including Jacob deGrom, Nathan Eovaldi, Andrew Heaney, and Jake Odorizzi.
With deGrom out dealing with an elbow injury, Eovaldi has stepped into the role of ace and delivered some dominant performances for the Rangers.
In fact, he is on a very impressive streak as of late, having pitched a total of 28.2 consecutive scoreless innings.
This includes a near complete-game shutout on Thursday against the Oakland Athletics, a game in which he recorded a career-high 12 strikeouts.

Eovaldi also allowed just three hits and only walked one batter.
The Rangers have now won seven of their last 10 games thanks in large part to the veteran right-hander’s dominance.
Eovaldi is now 5-2 on the season and owns an ERA of 2.70.
The Rangers signed him shortly after inking deGrom, giving the 33-year-old a two-year contract.
With deGrom out, Eovaldi has taken on the role of ace for the Rangers and is delivering for a team that has enjoyed a solid turnaround this season.
The Rangers are in first place in the American League West with a 23-14 record, leading the division by 3.5 games over the Los Angeles Angels and four games over the defending World Series champion Houston Astros.
But the run Eovaldi is on has been a key factor in the Rangers’ recent upswing.
Texas won on Thursday by a final score of 4-0 over the A’s.
