The first two nights of the 2022 NFL Draft are over with fans and players examining who their team’s drafted.
For Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, draft day feels oddly familiar to him.
He was in a similar situation where another quarterback thought they were the starter during draft day.
It would be in the 2017 draft when the Chicago Bears selected Trubisky.
But they already signed a quarterback before drafting him.
With Thursday night completed and the Steelers drafting quarterback Kenny Pickett, a role reversal is on Trubisky.
Is Trubisky The Next Mike Glennon?
Chicago signed Mike Glennon in 2017 as their starting quarterback.
However, they drafted Trubisky shortly after their signing of Glennon.
He would last only one year in Chicago, losing his job to Trubisky before the season’s end.
Mike Glennon signed a 3 yr $45 million contract with the Bears, after 2 backup seasons in Tampa Bay where he threw just 11 passes. Since then, he’s bounced around the NFL from team to team.
He lasts only one year with each new team.
With the Steelers drafting a quarterback, after signing Trubisky, he could see a similar fate.
However, he can change that fate if he performs well as a starter.
But if he fails, he could see himself as the next Glennon, jumping between teams each year.
Lack Of Faith Could Be Trubisky’s Problem
Pittsburgh might lack faith in their current quarterback, something he’s seen in his career.
While he was drafted as a future quarterback, the Bears quickly lost faith in him.
They would bring in Nick Foles as his backup, a Super Bowl champion quarterback.
By Week 3, the Bears pulled their struggling quarterback in favor of Foles.
He would lead the team to victory after coming into a 16-point deficit against the Atlanta Falcons.

That helped push him into the starting role over Trubisky in 2020.
In three short years, he went from backup to starter and back again as backup.
His poor decision-making with passes made coaching doubt his ability on the field.
However, people think his troubles come from something else.
Some Fans Feel Coaching Is Trubisky’s Issue
The coaching staff in Chicago was a joke.
Take it from a Bears fan, we didn’t have a solid coaching staff to help Trubisky grow.
Other football fans feel the same.
Tell me more about how this #Bears team is bad because of Trubisky. It's coaching, folks…..

So if that’s the case, why aren’t the Steelers coaching staff working with him to improve?
Why sign him only to draft Pickett?
Maybe it’s not because they don’t think coaching can help Trubisky, but that Pickett gives them a long-term quarterback.
While Trubisky can be the present for Pittsburgh, Pickett is clearly their future.
However, Pittsburgh could have no confidence in Trubisky, just like Chicago.
But we won’t see a genuine answer until the 2022 season begins.
In the meantime, Trubisky has ammo to make improvements if he wishes to have a longer stay in Pittsburgh.
He can use this draft pick to improve his game and focus on making fewer mistakes.
Or he could do nothing and pick up a check as the perennial backup quarterback in the NFL.
Only time will tell fans how this story ends for Trubisky.
