The New Orleans Saints won a close game over the Tennessee Titans during their Week 1 matchup.
Much of their success was due to the availability of Michael Thomas, who was finally healthy enough to play a complete game.
As noted by the NFL’s pregame video, he might have had extra strength and motivation after spending time with Drew Brees before the game.

Brees and Thomas had a great rapport during Brees’ career, who has been retired since 2021.
While Brees has now shifted into a broadcasting career, Thomas is still trying to make a massive impact on the Saints’ roster.
In this first game of the season, Thomas racked up five receptions for 61 yards, a sign that he is on his way back to being a dominant force.
Derek Carr’s first game as a Saint yielded a 305-yard, one-touchdown performance which was good enough to secure a victory.
Despite the stat lines for both Carr and Thomas, this offense still has plenty of work to do if they want to make a playoff push.
Had Ryan Tannehill not thrown three interceptions for the Titans, this game could have looked significantly different for the Saints.
Carr still has plenty of growing pains to iron out, and Thomas has a long way to go to perform how he did with Brees on the roster.
The Saints’ next two games are against the Carolina Panthers and Green Bay Panthers.
Can they continue to figure it out on offense as they hope to start their season with a 3-0 record?
