The Baltimore Ravens pulled off a shocker by trading wide receiver Marquise Brown to the Arizona Cardinals.
“Hollywood” had a breakout year in 2021 after collecting 1,000 receiving yards.
But they sent him and their 100th overall pick for the Cardinals’ 23rd overall selection.
However, the Ravens traded that pick for the Buffalo Bills’ 25th selection and chose center Tyler Linderbaum.
General manager Eric DeCosta revealed that Brown requested a trade from the Ravens, and Lamar Jackson knew about it.
But Brown shared his thoughts regarding the transaction during his recent guesting on Sirius XM.
Marquise Brown to @SiriusXM on his trade request: "I love Lamar. It’s just the system wasn’t for me personally. I love all my teammates. I love the guys. It was just something I had to think about for myself.”
Brown said he's had talks with Lamar about this the last two seasons.

Brown said, “I love Lamar. It’s just the system wasn’t for me personally. I love all my teammates. I love the guys. It was just something I had to think about for myself.”
He also added that he expressed this sentiment to Jackson over the last two seasons.
Brown Wants A Change In Atmosphere
Brown was on the rise, judging by last season.
However, it would be difficult for him to put up big numbers in Baltimore’s run-first approach.
The Ravens continued to pound the ground despite losing J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards to season-ending injuries.
Devonta Freeman and Latavius Murray did fairly well, but Jackson was still the offense’s heart and soul.
He could simply run the ball and gain yards because of his quickness.
While that approach works, it won’t help Brown negotiate for his next deal.
In Arizona, he will fill in for Christian Kirk, who joined the Jacksonville Jaguars.
A healthy DeAndre Hopkins will also give him favorable matchups.
That way, he can maximize his talents and get the deal he deserves based on the the surging wide receiver market.
