The Washington Commanders entered Week 5 of the NFL Season with high hopes.
While they were coming off of a loss, it came in an overtime battle with the Philadelphia Eagles, a sign that they had played well.
With the Chicago Bears coming into town, this was a perfect opportunity for the Commanders to get over .500 until it wasn’t.
The Bears were in command for the entire game, dominating the Commanders on both sides of the ball.
After this loss, Magic Johnson commented on the Commanders’ performance on Twitter, saying they “played with no intensity or fire.”
Tonight the Commanders played with no intensity or fire. We didn’t compete in the first half and got down 27-3 heading into halftime. It was too big of a hole to climb out of and that is why we ended up losing 40-20.

Johnson is part of the investment group that recently purchased the Commanders.
He has been significantly more involved than previous ownership and has been spotted at various team events and games throughout the year.
Johnson’s comments hold a significant amount of weight given his place within the organization.
He believed that the 27-3 halftime deficit was simply too much for the Commanders to overcome, which is why they lost.
While Johnson didn’t have many positive things to say about his investment, there were a few key takeaways for the Commanders in this one.
They won the second half, outscoring the Bears 17-13.
Sam Howell threw for 388 yards and two touchdowns, proving he can put big numbers when the team is at a deficit.
Despite his passing numbers, Howell did throw an interception which happened during their second-half scoring run.
Had he not thrown the pick, the outcome of the game might have looked a lot differently.
