The Dallas Mavericks‘ season has been a little rough so far but the team still has a lot of promise.
Most people still believe the squad can again go far in the postseason and might even be able to make the Western Conference Finals again.
This will be because of several stars but undoubtedly mostly because of Luka Doncic.
The team’s leader and greatest player is a pivotal part of every win they secure.

As expected, he has burst into the new season and is playing like a man on a mission yet again.
He’s also started every single game with serious fire and enthusiasm.
In fact, he is averaging more points in the first half than Nikola Jokic, Karl-Anthony Towns, Dejounte Murray, Zach LaVine, Julius Randle, Anthony Edwards, and Tyler Herro are in full games.
Doncic is red-hot at the start of each game – so why are the Mavericks still not able to seal the deal?
A Tough Conference
The Mavericks are currently learning what analysts have been saying for some time: the current NBA Western Conference is stacked.
They have played against three incredible teams so far: the Phoenix Suns, Memphis Grizzlies, and New Orleans Pelicans.
They were able to overcome the Grizzlies but were taken down (barely) by both the Suns and Pelicans.
This is going to be a problem that everyone else in the league faces.
The West is populated with superstars and their powerful teams.
Even with Doncic going hog wild in games, the Mavs will still face stiff competition.
This doesn’t mean they can’t make the Western Conference Finals again or that Donic cannot earn his first MVP trophy.
But the fight for those things will be intense.
