The Los Angeles Lakers couldn’t get the job done last season, and a lot of that had to do with LeBron James running out of gas in the playoffs.
This is, by no means, a diss to LeBron or anything at all, as it’s only normal that a 38-year-old playing his 20th season gets tired.
Then again, it does raise some concerns regarding his alleged plans to play for Team USA in the Summer Olympics.
Nonetheless, when asked about it, The King acknowledged that he wouldn’t have to do a lot of heavy lifting if he’s joined by so many talented players (via Dave McMenamin).
LeBron James says he has interest in playing in the 2024 Olympics in Paris. He says he “wouldn’t have to do much” playing with a collection of talent like that.

LeBron has found plenty of success playing for the national team, but even if he decides to suit up, that doesn’t mean he needs to carry the load and be the alpha dog.
Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Jayson Tatum, Bam Adebayo, Devin Booker, and many more superstars have expressed their desire to suit up for the national team next summer, and it would be a fitting end to a legendary career for LeBron, should that be the case.
In reality, the Lakers need to do as much as they can to keep LeBron fresh for the postseason.
It’ll be up to Anthony Davis to finally step up and be ‘the man,’ and James will have to sit out every now and then, whether he likes it or not.
They need him at his best when it matters the most, and they shouldn’t find a lot of trouble getting by without him in the regular season.
