There is a very good chance that the upcoming NBA season will be painfully challenging for the Los Angeles Lakers.
While the team will likely be better than they were last season (could they get any worse?) there is no guarantee that they will be ready for the playoffs or Finals.
They have made a few trades but nothing substantial and they are likely entering the new year with essentially the same squad from before.
* @KingJames is currently 1,325 points behind @kaj33's 38,387.
If LeBron averages 30.0 ppg (as he did last season), he’d surpass Kareem in his 44th game. If LeBron dips back to 25.0 ppg (his 2020-21 average), he’d surpass Kareem in 53 games.

However, even if the upcoming season is dreadful for the Lakers, their lead star LeBron James is most definitely going to make history.
He is currently just 1,325 points behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar‘s historic 38,387.
That’s the most in league history but it’ll soon be surpassed by James.
If James averages 30 points per game (as he did in 2021-22) he will surpass Abdul-Jabbar in 44 games.
If he averages 25 points, he will take the title in 53 games.
Either way, it’s all but guaranteed that James is about to have the most points in NBA history.
Legendary LeBron
James is entering his 20th season and that means he’s at the point in his career when he is breaking records often.
However, this will be his biggest honor yet.
Topping Abdul-Jabbar is a major feat and something that every basketball player dreams of – although none have ever done it.
Even the most dedicated James detractor will not be able to take this accomplishment away from him.
They will have to admit he has done something truly special.
Claiming this historic record is near certain so now people are wondering if the rest of the Lakers team will produce something special too.
