The Brooklyn Nets are still hurting from flying too close to the sun.
They signed Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant and traded for James Harden, and none of them are there now.
Their tenure as NBA championship contenders was short-lived and full of drama with non-sports-related controversies.
Needless to say, Irving rubbed the fan base the wrong way, as he pretty much forced his way out of Brooklyn with his behavior off the court.
Looking back, Irving admitted that it was better for him to just move on and pursue ‘some piece of mind’ away from all the backlash (Via Nets Videos).
“It was time to get my own peace of mind & go somewhere where I was able to thrive & be in a situation where I didn’t have to worry about behind-the-back talk, media talk or not knowing how to handle real-life circumstances that have nothing to do with basketball,” Irving said.

Notably, Irving claimed that he didn’t want to keep worrying about not knowing how to deal with stuff that didn’t have to do with basketball.
At the end of the day, it was better for both parties to just move on and leave all that behind them.
So, even though the Nets have struggled to win basketball games since their stars left, the front office and the fan base might actually be happier — or at least more calm — right now.
