The Boston Celtics were busy during the summer as they made multiple moves to improve the roster ahead of the 2023-24 season.
The biggest move made by the Celtics was acquiring Kristaps Porzingis via trade from the Washington Wizards.
Adding Porzingis helped the Celtics create a Big 3 with Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Porzingis.
Fans got a chance to see the new-look Celtics in action against the New York Knicks and Porzingis dropped 30 points alongside 8 rebounds in his official debut for the team.
Brown was impressed by Porzingis’ debut as he explained his teammate’s impact, via Jared Weiss on Twitter.
“I think KP is the ultimate spacer, right, and if teams are going to keep guarding him like that, we’re going to keep encouraging him to shoot the ball,” Brown said.
Jaylen Brown: “I think KP is the ultimate spacer, right, and if teams are going to keep guarding him like that, we're going to keep encouraging him to shoot the ball. When (teams switch their coverages), people like me will be ready to take advantage of those matchups.”

Brown believes having Porzingis on the floor allows players like himself to take advantage of the extra space created by the big man.
Despite his 7-foot-3 stature, Porzingis is an elite shooter.
Even in his debut, Porzingis shot a brilliant 5-8 from downtown, which quickly allowed him to score the majority of his 30 points.
With a big man who can shoot from beyond the three-point line, it obviously leaves the likes of Brown to have much more space to operate.
It will be interesting to see how other players on the Celtics roster take advantage of their new teammate’s ability to space the floor.
Following a sensational debut against the Knicks, fans are eager to see Porzingis’ future games.
He could be the missing piece that has held back the Celtics from their first NBA Championship since 2008.
