It was recently announced that free agent forward Montrezl Harrell was signed to the Philadelphia 76ers.
This started the next chapter of his storied career.
The plan is to use Harrell as a backup forward or center, which should give the 76ers a huge boost on the front end of the court.
This only makes the team more exciting with a better chance to finally make good on their promise of getting far into the postseason.
James Harden played a part in bringing Harrell to Philadelphia too — both with his contract creating roster flexibility and recruiting him to take on the role of backup center with the Sixers. They have history together with the Rockets.

Apparently, there was a very special member in the recruiting process for Harrell.
Adrian Wojnarowski reported that James Harden “played a part in bringing Harrell to Philadelphia.”
He said that Harden’s new contract allowed the 76ers to have the financial flexibility to land Harrell.
Plus, Harden himself actively recruited the player and sold the idea of him being a backup center for the squad.
Harden’s pitch relied on the pair’s experiences playing together for the Houston Rockets.
This shows that Harden isn’t just talking and really does want to make the team better and is willing to put in the work to make that happen.
Harden’s Hard Work
Harden is definitely a centerpiece of the team.
But he’s taken on a new role, one of a team leader who inspires and sacrifices for the crew.
He has been much more encouraging for his team lately.
He has also accepted personal sacrifices and has been devoting a lot of time to practicing in the gym.
This is a side of Harden that we aren’t really used to.
Will it result in the 76ers actually being championship contenders or will this be another season when the team comes up short?
Harden stepping up could be the missing piece the team needed.
