Jalen Brunson has had plenty to do with the New York Knicks’ success this season.
They had been craving a legit starting point guard for years now, and they found one of the most underrated in the game.
Brunson knew he was going to be in the spotlight after signing that big contract in the offseason, and he’s most definitely lived up to it thus far.
He showed his great play again in Wednesday’s win over the San Antonio Spurs when he scored a career-high 38 points:
“I’ve worked on my game since I was a baby. The way I played when I was 10 is the same way I play now,” Brunson said postgame. “Whatever it takes to win. I could have 38, or I could have three points. If we win, that’s all I really care about. That’s been my goal and mindset, and that’s the mindset of this team. And we have to keep it going. But it does feel good with the win.”

Brunson has gotten plenty of praise as of late, with Gregg Popovich lauding his competitiveness and basketball IQ:
“He’s a Hall-of-Famer. He’s one of the best coaches to be in this game,” Brunson said of Pop’s comments. “I have nothing but respect for Pop. He’s phenomenal. Great guy to talk to. He’s real special. It’s a pleasure to see coach Pop, and I respect everything about him.”
It’s still early in the season, and Brunson still has plenty to prove with that big contract of his.
But if he’s going to keep this up, then he’s most definitely worthy of every single penny.
