During the 2022-23 NBA season, the Memphis Grizzlies were thought to be legitimate title contenders and perhaps one of the biggest threats to Nikola Jokic and the top-seeded Denver Nuggets.
The Grizzlies had a well-rounded squad led by superstar guard Ja Morant, who continued to prove his worth as one of the best guards in the game while being the undisputed leader for Memphis.
Unfortunately, off-the-floor issues for Morant derailed the team’s hopes of competing for an NBA title, as the second-seeded Memphis squad fell to the seventh-seeded Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the NBA playoffs.
Shortly after the season was over for the Grizzlies, Morant got in trouble for brandishing a gun on social media once again, resulting in the league penalizing him with a 25-game suspension.
Over the past couple of months, it has seemed that Morant has started to get his act together with some positive messages being sent out on his social accounts.
However, Morant took to Twitter with a cryptic message on Friday, which has led to people speculating.
y’all just be talkin
— Ja Morant (@JaMorant) September 22, 2023
Morant may have seen some projections for the 2023-24 NBA season, with the Grizzlies not expected to do as well as he anticipates, even if he’s set to miss the first 25 games of the year.
However, there’s no telling what Morant might be referring to here, as it could be anything, as he has provided zero context.
With Morant on a short leash from here on out, it’ll be interesting to see if he can keep from being a distraction moving forward and let his play do the talking once he’s finally able to get back on the floor.
