The New Orleans Saints travel to Seattle to play Monday Night Football to close out Week 7 of the 2021 NFL season.
In previous years, the storyline would have been about the legendary quarterbacks, Drew Brees and Russell Wilson.
Of course, Brees is retired, and Wilson is recovering from a finger surgery in early October that typified an early season of struggles.
It is now the Jameis Winston and Geno Smith show.

The Saints And Seahawks In 2021
The Seattle Seahawks were struggling before Russell Wilson went down with an injury. Now they will try to dig their way out of the bottom of the NFC West with Geno Smith calling the shots. On Monday, they face the New Orleans Saints, who will be fresh after a Week 6 bye.

Though their win and loss records only vary by one game, these two teams are in very different places.
The Saints are 3-2 and two wins behind the NFC South frontrunner Tampa Bay.
Conversely, the Seahawks are 2-4 and four wins behind the undefeated Arizona Cardinals who lead the NFC West division.
The NFC West is one of the most competitive with the 6-0 Cardinals and the Chargers at 5-1.
Originally Wilson was expected to miss about a month with his surgery.
Monday night’s game will be the second start he misses.
The Seahawks would be without him in Week 8 against the Jacksonville Jaguars before having a bye in Week 9.
He is making great progress in just two weeks so it would not be surprising if he is back on the field in Week 10.
In the meantime, Geno Smith has to win games.
The Seahawks narrowly lost to the Steelers by the score of 23-20.
Assuming the Cardinals are not going 17-0, the Seahawks can still be competitive but need to log wins now.
