The Los Angeles Rams reportedly explored trading Matthew Stafford this offseason, but they wanted to keep him around.
So, they ultimately sorted things out and signed the veteran quarterback to a contract extension that could take him to the end of his career.
Unfortunately, that might be just around the corner.
Stafford continues to deal with a back injury, and while it didn’t seem concerning at first, he hasn’t been able to practice and reportedly got an epidural to cope with the pain.
That’s why former NFL quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is worried about Stafford’s situation.
“I’d be very concerned if I was a Rams fan right now,” Hasselbeck said on “The Herd.”

Stafford is one of the toughest players in the game, starting with his days with the Detroit Lions.
He repeatedly played through pain and injury.
He’s struggled with injuries with the Rams as well, and he’s 37 years old.
Back issues tend to linger, and he’s never been the most mobile QB, so that could effect his performance.
Stafford has won the Super Bowl and is widely respected among his peers.
But if he continues to deal with these issues, he might give retirement some serious thought.
As for the Rams, they would be forced to turn to backup Jimmy Garoppolo if Stafford can’t get back on the field.
