The New England Patriots are officially back.
It didn’t take long before Mike Vrabel got the organization back on the right path.
With the moves they made in the offseason and the right guidance, this was a promising campaign in Foxboro.
However, as much credit as the head coach and the front office deserve, their young quarterback has also turned plenty of heads.
As shown by Carlos A. Lopez on X, Drake Maye has now joined the legendary Dan Marino in a very exclusive club:
“Patriots QB Drake Maye joins Patrick Mahomes and Dan Marino as the only QBs under the age of 23 to throw for 200 or more passing yards and have a 100 or higher passer rating in 5 straight games,” via Carlos A. Lopez.

Maye was a bit of a mixed bag in his rookie season.
He didn’t look as sharp in the first game of the campaign, either.
Fast forward to today, and he might be a legitimate MVP candidate.
The UNC product has been in full control of the offense, and he’s not afraid to make the big play.
Josh McDaniels has given him a long leash, taking shots deep down the field when most people thought he’d be conservative, and giving him freedom to make adjustments at the line of scrimmage.
His physical tools were always mesmerizing, but his football IQ and decision-making have clearly improved significantly as well.
He’s been much better in coverage, and he’s cleaned up some things in terms of footwork and technique as well.
Maye can make every throw in the book, but he’s also mobile and fast to take off if the pocket collapses.
The present is encouraging in Foxboro, and the future looks much brighter for this once-contending franchise.
