Earlier this week, the Miami Dolphins made a decision to trade for wide receiver Chase Claypool, who had quickly worn out his welcome with the Chicago Bears.
With players like Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Tua Tagovailoa, Raheem Mostert, and De’Von Achane, the Dolphins’ offense is certainly not one that lacks weapons.
But Miami clearly wants to see if Claypool can provide them with another option to utilize in their passing attack this season.
As for the newly acquired wide receiver’s status for the Dolphins’ Week 5 game against the New York Giants on Sunday, he is not expected to be active for Miami, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.
New #Dolphins WR Chase Claypool, who came over in a trade from the #Bears this past week, is not expected to play today, source said. Just too quick of a turnaround.

Claypool was originally selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he burst out of the gate during his rookie season with 62 catches for 873 yards and nine touchdowns.
His numbers were solid in 2021 (59 catches, 860 yards, two touchdowns), but the Steelers decided to trade him to the Bears in the middle of the 2022 season in exchange for a 2023 second-round draft pick.
Unfortunately for Chicago, it didn’t take long for them to realize that Claypool wasn’t going to be a fit on their roster.
During his short tenure with the Bears, the 25-year-old wide receiver only caught 18 of his 43 targets for 191 yards and one touchdown.
Chicago listed him as a healthy scratch before their Week 4 game against the Denver Broncos, and then a few days later, he was traded to the Dolphins.
Will Claypool be able to get his career back on track in Miami, or is he just not cut out for what it takes to remain in the NFL?
