The Miami Dolphins nearly made the 2021 NFL playoffs.
It’s an amazing achievement considering they were 1-7 at one point in the season.
After finishing 9-8, the team doesn’t want to languish at the fringe of postseason contention anymore.
That said, they hired former San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel as their new head coach.
However, the Dolphins didn’t stop there for they hired a new coach that will help Tua Tagovailoa improve even more.
Bevell has worked with Brett Favre, Russell Wilson and Matthew Stafford. That's a positive for Tua. https://t.co/NAVAxk2924

Darrell Bevell brings his extensive experience to Miami, especially in helping quarterbacks maximize their capabilities.
Aside from being the quarterbacks coach to Brett Favre, Russell Wilson, and Matthew Stafford, he will also give McDaniel much wisdom after being an interim head coach twice.
Dolphins Address Both Facets On Offense
Former Dolphins head coach Brian Flores did a fantastic job in his last two seasons with the team.
However, he’s a defensive-minded coach which is not a good fit for a quarterback with much upside like Tagovailoa.
He has the skill set to become a better player, but he needs the right coaches and the perfect schemes to expedite his improvement.
Having McDaniel and Bevell addresses both aspects of the Dolphins offense.
McDaniel was the de-facto run play coordinator in San Francisco with Kyle Shanahan still having a hand in calling pass plays.
Therefore, the new Dolphins head coach can unlock Tagovailoa’s attributes, especially during run-pass option plays.
Meanwhile, Bevell will coordinate the passing game, giving the former Alabama standout more confidence in throwing downfield.
The numbers show that Tagovailoa manifested improvements within two seasons.
He improved his completion percentage from 64.1 to 67.9 and had 2,653 yards in his second year.
With the right coaches in place, Tagovailoa will only get better.
When that happens, the likes of Jaylen Waddle, Myles Gaskin, and Mike Gesicki will also elevate their game.
