The New York Giants are fresh off making a huge financial commitment to Daniel Jones, prompting plenty of doubts, criticism, and even mockery.
Jones is coming off the best season of his career, showing signs of promise under HC Brian Daboll, and the team hopes that the upward trend continues for years to come.
However, they don’t seem to be as optimistic about their actual best offensive player, as they continue to be in a bit of a contract stand-off with Saquon Barkley.
Naturally, Jones could be heavily impacted by Barkley’s potential decision to hold out unless he gets a new deal, which is why he recently claimed both parties be able to sort things out before it’s too late:
“Saquon is always working hard, he’s always going to be in good shape, he’s always going to look good,” Jones told The New York Post. “Anyone who has been around him is going to expect that from him. We’re talking all the time, staying in touch, getting together when we can. I know he’s got a lot going on, and I really hope the two sides can come together.”

Jones has been working with his star running back at a public field in New Jersey.
Barkley isn’t eligible to partake in any OTAs or minicamps after refusing to sign his franchise tag because of that contract dispute, so they needed to figure out a way to get some reps together.
Truth be told, the Giants’ offense doesn’t stand a chance without Barkley on the field.
He’s their most disruptive offensive player and a guy that has proven to be a tackle-breaking machine and perennial big-play threat when he’s healthy.
On the other hand, Barkley also needs the Giants as much as they need him.
The fact that his own team isn’t willing to sign him to a big deal should be concerning enough for other teams to take the same approach, so his chances of getting paid somewhere else are pretty close to none.
