The Chicago Cubs have made another pitching move during the offseason.
With the team making deals for several stars this offseason, it makes sense to bulk up their pitching staff.
As they hope for a better season during 2023, the Cubs got themselves another left-handed reliever.
The left-handed pitcher the team got was Ryan Borucki.
Cubs announce:
-C PJ Higgins rejected his outright assignment and elected free agency.
-LHP Ryan Borucki signed a minor league contract with spring training invite. He’s a Highland Park native, went to Mundelein High School.

Borucki joins Roenis Elias and Eric Stout as the three left-handed pitchers the Cubs have gotten so far this offseason.
While Borucki’s deal is a minor league contract, the team is giving him a chance to make an impact during spring training.
The 28-year-old reliever spent 2022 on two different teams.
His time with the Toronto Blue Jays saw him struggling, as he posted a 9.95 ERA in 11 games and 6.1 innings pitched.
However, he made improvements once he was with the Seattle Mariners.
With them, Borucki had a 2-0 record in 21 appearances from the bullpen.
His ERA dropped to 4.26 over 19 innings of work while allowing 17 hits and holding four games for the Mariners.
It gave him an overall ERA of 5.68 during 2022, which might spook the Cubs.
But because he made improvements in 2022, the Cubs are giving him a chance to prove himself.
His five-year career in the majors shows inconsistency, which the Cubs hope he can fix.
With a career ERA of 4.45, the Cubs aren’t getting an awe-inspiring pitcher.
However, with some work, they can point Borucki in the right direction.
With 2020 being the best season of his career, the Cubs can work off what he did well from that season.
If they can, he might prove himself as a worthy piece in the Cubs bullpen for 2023.
