Sashi Brown is one of the most polarizing figures in Cleveland Browns history.

He was the GM of the team in 2016 when the goal was clearly to lose as many games as possible in order to acquire as much top draft capital as possible.

The Browns went 1-31 from 2016-2017 and the strategy remains up for debate.

Yet ownership bailed on his plan and he was let go before the end of the 2017 season.

He then made the jump to the NBA with the Washington Wizards, leaving the NFL behind.

That has all changed Friday as news broke that Brown is back in the AFC North with the Baltimore Ravens.

Could the Ravens be seeking a more analytical approach in their front office?

They may not be, but Brown is an asset to have around in general given his legal and analytics-based background.

A Blast From The Past

Browns fans will see this news and surely have a response, whether that be disgust or praise toward the team’s former GM.

Tanking has become a hot topic now that Brian Flores accused the Miami Dolphins of trying to do that in 2019, only for him to fight back and not accept the offer.

The Browns seemed to openly tank in 2016 and in 2017 when Brown was calling the shots.

Ownership just gave up on the plan when they realized how brutal the process was.

Regardless of his plan, Sashi Brown’s talent evaluation in Cleveland left a lot to be desired. Will be interesting to see how much say he has in the Ravens front office.

He now heads to a more stable organization in Baltimore where the top priority is figuring out what to do with Lamar Jackson.

Will he get an extension, or will they slap the franchise tag on him and hold off on that major decision?

Brown can come in and help on that front.

This time, his tenure should be filled with more than one win.
