The Washington Commanders did not get the script on how the NFC East will perform early in the 2022 NFL season.
They are the only team without a 4-1 record because of an opposite slate.
The Commanders have slim defeats like their 21-17 loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 5 and their 36-27 setback versus the Detroit Lions in Week 2.
But while triumphs are hard to come by, quarterback Carson Wentz is having some success.

NFL on CBS shared the passing touchdowns among NFC East quarterbacks through Week 5.
Wentz leads the pack with ten, while Jalen Hurts and Cooper Rush are tied with four.
Daniel Jones lags with three.
Unfortunately, the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, and New York Giants found other ways to score.
The Eagles and the Giants have powerful running games thanks to Miles Sanders and Saquon Barkley, respectively.
Barkley is second in rushing yards with 533, while Sanders is fourth with 414.
Philadelphia also has 12 rushing touchdowns through five games, while the Giants have seven.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys’ defense is one of the league’s best, limiting teams to only 14.4 points per game.
Dorance Armstrong, DeMarcus Lawrence, Trevon Diggs, and Micah Parsons are making it difficult for their opponents to score.
Therefore, it’s easier to win because the offense need not score much.
Commanders Cannot Catch Up
While Wentz has ten touchdown passes, they only have two rushing touchdowns through five games.
No wonder they are ranked 28th in rushing yards with 89 per game.
Wentz is also second behind Matthew Stafford and Matt Ryan in interceptions with six.
They also rank 26th in total points, averaging 18 per game.
The Commanders will try to get their second win when they face the Chicago Bears in Week 6.
