The Los Angeles Lakers got a true competitor in Austin Reaves.
His work ethic helped him go from an undrafted free agent to a two-way player to getting a $50 million contract, all in less than three years.
He put himself on the map last season and even earned a spot on Team USA’s roster for the FIBA Basketball World Cup, sitting among some of the best young players in the league.
Unfortunately, as you may know by now, Team USA failed to get the job done in the Philippines, heading back home empty-handed after losing in the semifinal against Germany.
That’s why Reaves took some time from his vacation to shoutout Dennis Schroder and congratulate him on the win for his national team, via hillbillybogey and ClutchPoints.
"Shoutout to my boy Dennis Schroder. Obviously pissed that y'all beat us [in the FIBA World Cup]… It's the second best option."

Reaves and Schroder grew quite close when they shared the locker room with the Lakers, and they’ve had nothing but the utmost respect and praise for each other.
Schroder even dedicated Reaves a post after winning the World Cup because he knew how much work he puts in and how difficult it must’ve been for him to be on the losing end of that matchup.
The German point guard will now take his talents up north to play for the Toronto Raptors, presumably as a starter.
Reaves, on the other hand, will stay put in sunny Southern California to be Darvin Ham’s starting shooting guard, and you better believe he’s going to have those two games against the Raptors circled on his calendar.
