To say that the Indianapolis Colts have had a tough time finding a new quarterback would be a major understatement.
For years, the franchise has struggled to find a suitable replacement for Andrew Luck, who shockingly retired just days before the start of the 2019 regular season.
They took Anthony Richardson out of Florida with the No. 4 pick in this year’s draft, hoping to put an end to their woes.
And, according to Ari Meirov (via theScore), the rookie gunslinger will now be the seventh different quarterback to start on opening day for them in the past seven years, joining the likes of Scott Tolzien, Luck, Jacoby Brissett, Philip Rivers, Carson Wentz, and Matt Ryan.

The Colts didn’t find success taking a page out of the Los Angeles Rams or Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ book of pursuing a veteran and aging quarterback, as Rivers and Ryan looked terrible in their tenures there.
Wentz played his way out of the team as well, and neither Tolzien nor Brissett were never expected to be long-term solutions.
But Richardson now looks like a beacon of hope, and a light at the end of the tunnel for this team.
Then again, it’s worth noting that he barely played in college and there were some major issues with accuracy and decision-making, so chances are that things get worse before they get any better.
Richardson has the potential to become a superstar, but it may not happen in the first — or even the second — season, and the fans and the organization need to be patient with him.
