After having one of the best NBA offseasons in franchise history, the Los Angeles Lakers will head into the 2023-24 NBA season with arguably the deepest roster in the league, headlined by superstars Anthony Davis and LeBron James.
The Lakers front office had one goal this offseason to keep the roster relatively intact while adding a few key pieces to the puzzle and avoiding the temptation to trade for or sign another superstar that could further complicate things like Russell Westbrook did.
It was mission accomplished for GM Rob Pelinka and the front office, with the team already seeming to click on the floor and off of it, which was clearly showcased during this funny interaction after practice on Tuesday.
During a post-practice interview with the media, Davis took aim at new teammate Christian Wood, who was talking trash and unable to back it up in a scrimmage via Michael Corvo of ClutchPoints.
"They were beating the purple team 14-3 in a 5 minute scrimmage and came back 38-34. [Christian Wood] missing big free-throws. I think he shot 38% from the line in preseason. So, fouled him on purpose."

A couple of things were made abundantly clear during this clip of Davis talking after practice.
One, Davis and Wood are having some competitive battles during scrimmages during practices, which will only make both players better moving forward.
Two, these two veteran bigs have a good relationship and seem to be having fun competing.
All signs point to the Lakers potentially having a big year this season, as the team has no shortage of talent, and everyone seems to be on the same page, with the start of the regular season being a week away.
Next Tuesday, the Lakers will face the defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets in the Mile High City in the first game of the season, which will be a rematch of the Western Conference Finals.
