The Minnesota Vikings enter the 2024 offseason with a lot of questions about what they’ll do for their future.
The team lost quarterback Kirk Cousins to a torn Achilles midway through the year which tanked their season and now will have to decide if they want to bring him back or try to get a different passer for their loaded offense.
Between wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, tight end T.J. Hockenson, and running back Ty Chandler, the Vikings have an offense that could compete in the NFC.
One wild idea purported by CBS Sports’ Kyle Long, though, was that the Vikings should trade Jefferson away for a bounty of draft picks and/or players and beef up other areas of the team rather than pay him record-setting money.
“The Minnesota Vikings – and I’ve been banging on this table all year, you need to trade Justin Jefferson. ‘Cause you got the best wide receiver in football but you didn’t win a Super Bowl,” Long said. “Go get rid of Justin Jefferson and get a ton of other great players [back].”

This is an incredibly bold take that not many people will agree with because of how good Jefferson has been in just four seasons.
He finished with another 1,000-yard season despite missing many games this year and is a large part of the Vikings’ offense.
The idea is that a Jefferson trade would help the Vikings build a cohesive roster, but that’s assuming that whatever Minnesota gets in return can play up to the level that Jefferson would leave behind and that the duo of Addison and Hockenson can make up for Jefferson.
