The Los Angeles Clippers are reportedly shopping Paul George as they look to break up their star duo.
And while it’s a bummer that they never got to fulfill their true potential, it only makes sense that they’re ready to pull the plug on that experiment.
With that in mind, Fox analyst Nick Wright believes they should be in the mix for Kyrie Irving.
He explains that they could work out a sign-and-trade to get rid of either George or Leonard, as Irving would give them a much-needed offensive boost.
Where do you want to see Kyrie this season?
"I'd like to see a sign-and-trade with the Los Angeles Clippers — for either Paul George OR Kawhi Leonard. Let them pick." — @getnickwright pic.twitter.com/Rft5L3XcqD

This sounds exciting on paper, and the Dallas Mavericks would most definitely rather get something in return instead of losing Irving for nothing.
But it does not make sense from the Clippers’ standpoint.
On one hand, Tyronn Lue already has more than enough experience with Kyrie, as they won a championship together, but that partnership didn’t end well.
Moreover, the biggest issue with George and Leonard has been their lack of availability, and Kyrie hasn’t been durable either, and he’s also missed plenty of time for non-basketball-related stuff.
Irving is one of the most talented scorers of all time, and the Clippers desperately need an upgrade at the point guard position, even if Russell Westbrook comes back on a veteran minimum deal.
But this transaction might not be in their best interest, even if Steve Ballmer is loaded with money.
It might not be worth the risk.
