The 2023 season hasn’t been great for the New York Yankees.
They are 73-72, tied for last place in the AL East, and looking how each team in the division has gotten better while they have gotten way worse.
Still, the year has also taught lots of lessons to the ownership, the front office, manager Aaron Boone, and even the players.
In addition to that, Boone got a cool milestone that will look nice on his resume: he reached 500 career wins as a skipper.
“This marks Aaron Boone’s 500th managerial win, becoming just the eighth manager in #Yankees history to reach the plateau,” Yankees insider Bryan Hoch tweeted.

Despite often being the target of ruthless critics, Boone has a solid 500-353 record with an excellent .586 winning percentage as Yankees manager since taking over in 2018.
The problem is that getting wins in the postseason has been a problem.
While it’s true that the postseason is where the quality of the roster matters more than who is in the dugout making the calls, Boone hasn’t been able to perform well in October.
He has a 14-17 record there, and hasn’t been able to reach the World Series.
Fans, as you would expect, are getting impatient.
Still, most of them don’t think Boone is the main culprit for the team’s struggles in 2023.
Boone’s job should be safe for 2024, and the Yankees need to find a way to develop impactful talent and trust it.
They should be better in 2024, but the question is: will it be enough to return to the playoffs?
Nobody knows, but it’s going to be a very interesting offseason in the Bronx.
