The Sacramento Kings finally put an end to their playoff drought this season, and it was impossible not to think about DeMarcus Cousins.
Cousins was the best big man in the league in his heyday, and even though his prime was short-lived, he should still go down as one of the most dominant players of his generation.
Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to shake off multiple major injuries, which is why he’s now playing in Puerto Rico instead of the NBA.
Unsurprisingly, Cousins has been on a tear since arriving on the Caribbean island, dominating on both ends of the floor against somewhat lesser competition, as shared below via NBACentral.

The Puerto Rican league is now home to several former NBA players who never got another opportunity to showcase their talents in the league, but Cousins is looking like someone who could actually get some run in the NBA still.
No disrespect to DeAndre Jordan whatsoever, but Cousins gave the Denver Nuggets some solid minutes last season, so the fact that Jordan got the nod over him this year makes it seem like he’s not in the league for non-basketball reasons.
Cousins’ hard-nosed character earned him a tough reputation around the league, but he’s still young enough to at least crack a team’s rotation, and the clip shows that he could give any team at least a solid 15 minutes off the bench.
The game is always better when the best are on the floor, so let’s hope he can play his way back into the league for at least another season before walking away from basketball.
