Fans of the San Francisco 49ers have a lot to be hopeful for and excited about ahead of the 2023 NFL season.
The team looks absolutely stacked on both sides of the football, and perhaps all that needs to be done for the 49ers to make a run toward another Super Bowl championship is to figure out their quarterback situation.
Brock Purdy, their incumbent starter, tore the UCL in his throwing elbow during the NFC Championship Game, and there has been some doubt that he will be ready for Week 1 in September.
But according to David Lombardi, who covers the team for The Athletic, Purdy appears to be on track to be ready to start the new season, as he’s been throwing a football for nearly a month.
It’s been about 3.5 months since Brock Purdy’s early-March surgery and he’s already been throwing for nearly a month.
If his recovery continues at this rate, consider it very likely that is the 49ers’ Week 1 starter https://t.co/9rvGUWSuu2

Purdy was an improbable success story last year, as he was the last player chosen in the 2022 draft.
He began the season third on the team’s depth chart, but after season-ending injuries to Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo, he was forced to start under center in Week 13, and he did a magnificent job from that point on.
The 49ers ended the regular season with a 10-game winning streak, and they easily handled the Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys in the first two rounds of the playoffs before getting rolled by the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC title game.
A full offseason and training camp as the Niners’ presumed starter, even if he isn’t able to fully participate in football activities, could result in an even more polished Purdy this fall and winter.
