One aspect that makes the NFL so exciting is the breakout performances of certain players each week.
More often than not the players that have huge weeks are ones no one expected.
But, there are other times when a player has been trending in the direction of a huge game.
In a week with many great games, here are the three NFL players who shined on Sunday.
1. Joe Mixon, Cincinnati Bengals
The best performance of the week goes to Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon.
Mixon had a career day, rushing for 153 yards on 22 carries and four rushing touchdowns.
He even added 58 yards receiving and a receiving TD.
His five total touchdowns are the most in Bengals franchise history.

This was the best game of the season from a skill player, as his five TDs are a rare occurrence.
Heading into the Bengals’ bye week, this will be a performance celebrated over the next few weeks.
2. Justin Fields, Chicago Bears
One player that came out of nowhere with an incredible performance was quarterback Justin Fields.
After starting the season slowly, Fields has picked up his play of late.
But, his game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday might have been the best of his career.
Despite only throwing for 123 yards, Fields had two touchdown passes.
But, what made his game truly special was his rushing success.
Fields broke the NFL record for most rushing yards in a game by a quarterback with 178.

Passing Michael Vick‘s previous record of 173.
Fields also added one rushing touchdown.
If this game was any indication of the career Fields could have in Chicago, Bears fans should be very happy.
3. Davante Adams, Las Vegas Raiders
Do not let the terrible season of the Las Vegas Raiders take away from the greatness of Davante Adams.
The former all-pro dominated the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, reeling in 10 passes for 146 yards and two touchdowns.

This was Adams’ best game since Week 1, and the Raiders should continue to force-feed him the ball.
Las Vegas fell to 2-6 after the loss.
Their chance of making the playoffs are all but gone.
But, at least Raiders fans will get to watch Adams put up monster numbers for the rest of the season.
