With the 2023 season approaching, the New York Yankees have a number of highly ranked prospects looking to drive their value up.
This gives each an opportunity to rise through the system and eventually make their MLB debut.
For some, they are coming off a strong 2022 campaign that makes 2023 even more important.
Here is a look at two of the Yankees prospects that need to have a strong season to drive their stock up even more.
2. Trey Sweeney
When the Yankees drafted Trey Sweeney in 2021, many raised an eyebrow at the move.
While he was obviously talented, some of the data showed that he struggled against high-velocity pitching in college.
However, he put many of those concerns to rest with his 2022 season.

While he wasn’t necessarily dominant, he showed some strong improvement.
Between high-A and double-A, he hit .240 with 16 home runs.
Along with this, he flashed above-average plate discipline with a .349 average.
Now, with having shown these numbers already, the expectation for him to have a good 2023 is high.
1. Spencer Jones
Spencer Jones was the Yankees first-round pick in 2022 and the former Vanderbilt star did not disappoint.

His 6-foot-7 frame has drawn many comparisons to Aaron Judge, and he instantly began producing in the minors.
Despite being freshly removed from college, Jones hit .325 in single-A with three home runs.
Now, Jones has the opportunity to shoot up prospect rankings if he plays well in 2023.
Not only this, but he also has the chance to work his way through the Yankees organization quickly.
If he plays well, this could put Jones on pace to make his major league debut in 2024.
