We won’t see Zion Williamson play a game of basketball with his New Orleans Pelicans this season.
Because of a serious foot injury, surgery, and rehab, Williamson is still out indefinitely as the season comes to an end.
However, things are getting better.
After months of fans worrying that he wanted to leave the team, it looks like he is mending fences and becoming an important part of the squad, even from the sidelines.
Pelicans’ Zion Williamson traveled with the team to Portland on four-game road trip, sources tell me and @WillGuillory. It’s the first multi-game road trip Williamson has traveled on this season. Steps in right direction as he continues to progress but remains out indefinitely.

It was reported that Williamson traveled with the Pelicans to Portland on their four-game road trip.
This is the first multi-game trip that he has gone on with his team and a sign that things are moving in the right direction for Williamson and his estranged squad.
Brighter Days Ahead
If Williamson continues to get healthy and improve, he should be able to join his team when next season begins.
Therefore, next season could be a huge one for the Pelicans.
The team has surpassed expectations this year and is the ninth seed in the West right now, thanks to the hard work of guys like Brandon Ingram, Jonas Valanciunas, CJ McCollum, Devonte’ Graham, and more.
Now just imagine how great they will be if Williamson comes back and plays as he did before.
They could end next year much, much higher than the ninth seed.
Williamson can see that and he obviously realized that he needs his team to actually feel like a cohesive unit in order to achieve greatness.
That’s why you see him returning to his team, rooting them on, and fostering a positive environment.
After a season of bad news about Williamson, fans of the Pelicans should be very happy to hear this.
