Zion Williamson‘s return to the New Orleans Pelicans has been very long and has sometimes seemed like it may never end.
But fans of the Pelicans are starting to become optimistic about getting Williamson back again – even if it’s not any time soon.
Just watched Zion Williamson wave to the fan wearing his jersey in this pic several times.
Have watched him talk and wave to other fans throughout the game.
He’s sure acting like a guy who is happy being in New Orleans. pic.twitter.com/X6asWqcOvf

He was sitting courtside to watch his team defeat the Houston Rockets on Sunday night.
It was the first time Pelicans’ fanatics had seen Williamson in some time.
According to people on the ground, he looked jovial, friendly, and happy to be there.
Does this mean he really is returning to New Orleans even after all the rumors and speculation?
The Long, Long, Long Road To Recovery
Williamson hasn’t played a single NBA game this year after injuring his foot in the offseason last year.
The Pels initially thought that Williamson would be back around Christmas but that date came and went without any sighting of the star big man.
Things got so bad that Williamson took off to the west coast to rehabilitate his foot.
This led some people to believe that Williamson would not be back at all this season…and perhaps not back at all.
That’s because there have been rumors of his displeasure with his team for years now.
Speculation has consistently suggested that he wants out of the team.
However, seeing Williamson look so happy courtside on Sunday night gives reason to think that he might be quite content staying in New Orleans.
That doesn’t mean he will be back any time soon – his foot is still not ready for play – but perhaps next season will feature Williamson again.
Until then, he’ll continue to root his teammates on.
