The Philadelphia Phillies head into the World Series red-hot after going on an improbable run to eliminate the St. Louis Cardinals, Atlanta Braves, and San Diego Padres.
While the Phillies’ offense has come alive at just the right time, their one-two punch in the starting rotation has been a major key to their run.
Aaron Nola will start Game 1 on Friday night, with Zack Wheeler getting the call for Game 2 on Saturday.
The latter owns quite an impressive mark heading into the World Series.
Wheeler has faced 72 batters this postseason.
True to form, Wheeler has only allowed eight of those batters to reach base safely.

Doesn't get much more ace-like than that.

Wheeler’s Dominant Postseason
This is what you want from your ace, and it’s what Wheeler has been giving the Phillies all postseason.
From the opening game of the Wild Card Series in St. Louis to the World Series, Wheeler has been nothing short of dominant this October.
Starting pitching is usually the foundation of a team in the month of October, and Wheeler’s performances have helped solidify the Phillies’ rotation as one of the best of any team this postseason.
Wheeler is 1-1 with a 1.78 ERA this postseason.
The loss came in Game 2 of the NLDS against the Braves.
He earned the win in Game 1 of the NLCS against the Padres a week ago.
With him and Nola lined up for the first two games of this series, things set up quite well for the Phillies.
The Astros will surely be ready to counter, but the Phillies might be able to pull off the miracle.
