Cleveland Guardians pitcher Zach Plesac is breaking up with his agency.
Well, according to an MLB insider, it’s the other way around: CAA has decide to terminate its working relationship with the right-handed pitcher.
The details of the breakup are not known, but the fact he injured himself in late August may have had something to do with the decision.
“CAA has terminated its relationship with Guardians pitcher Zach Plesac. That’s a rarity for any agency. Plesac injured himself in successive seasons by aggressively taking off his shirt and punching the mound. In 2020 he was sent home for violating Covid protocols,” MLB Network’s Jon Heyman tweeted.

Plesac has been in the center of controversy for three straight seasons.
In 2020, he “made a poor choice”, per his own words, when he broke COVID-19 protocols together with teammate Mike Clevinger, now in the San Diego Padres.
A Series Of Unfortunate Mishaps For Plesac
Last year, he injured himself by aggressively taking off his shirt, and this year, he reportedly punched the mound in his August 28 start.
He fractured his right hand and had to be placed on the 15-day injured list, ending his season prematurely.
His poor judgment left the Guardians down an important starter in the middle of a race for the AL Central division.
Teammates rarely forget that kind of stuff.
For the season, Plesac had a 4.39 ERA in 23 starts and 127 innings.
He left a 3-11 record, with 99 strikeouts and a 1.31 WHIP.
The Guardians probably have the pitching depth to move on, but Plesac’s poor choices may be affecting his place in the organization for the long-term.
Evidently, he and the agency weren’t on the same page.
