The Chicago Bulls have been having a terrific season and are very close to retaking the number one seed in the Eastern Conference yet again.

However, this season has also been met with multiple major injuries that have decimated the team.

Right now, they are on the verge of possibly losing one of their greatest players and there is a chance it could throw the rest of the year into total disarray.

It is being reported that guard Zach LaVine is traveling to the west coast for a specialist to work on his left knee.

Chicago Bulls All-Star guard Zach LaVine will travel to Los Angeles to see a specialist for his left knee early this week, sources tell ESPN. LaVine has been dealing with recurring discomfort and will get further evaluation. He’s still planning to participate in All-Star Weekend.

LaVine will reportedly miss the next two games for his team.

Hopefully, LaVine gets good news from this specialist so he can properly heal and play again soon.

The sort of work he’s been doing for the Bulls this year has been phenomenal and if they hope to head all the way to the Finals, they need him on their side.

Zach’s Big Year

LaVine is averaging 24.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.5 assists a game so far this season.

Along with DeMar DeRozan, LaVine is helping lead the Bulls to heights they haven’t seen in decades.

In fact, LaVine and DeRozan are considered the highest-scoring duo in the entire league, averaging 52.3 points a game, according to ESPN.

He’s been so good, in fact, that he was selected to play in the upcoming All-Star Game, for the second time in his career.

But the incredible output from LaVine has also been mired by physical ailments.

Back in January, LaVine injured his left knee in a game against the Golden State Warriors.

At the time, LaVine had an MRI that showed no structural damage but he ended up missing five games to ensure that his condition didn’t worsen.

LaVine returned to the Bulls after his injury and was once again doing great work on the floor but apparently, he’s still been feeling discomfort that needs to be addressed as soon as possible.

Can Chicago Lose Him?

LaVine has left the Bulls before this season as mentioned so we can get a good idea of how they would perform if he had to sit out for several games again.

The truth is that the Bulls lose an awful lot when LaVine is gone.

In January, the team went 1-5 while LaVine was out.

Those are not very encouraging numbers and confirm that he is a majorly important part of the team.

The thought of losing LaVine again is all the most frightening because the team is in a very important part of the season.

This year’s Eastern Conference is ridiculously stacked and is filled with competitive teams that are constantly battling for the number one seed.

In other words, the Bulls need LaVine now more than ever.

Not only is he an offensive marvel, he’s also terrific at defense too.

Of course, he can’t go forever if he is suffering from an injury.

That’s why it’s super vital that he gets the medical attention he needs because if this issue isn’t handled now, it may flare up again during the postseason and could jeopardize everything the team has built.
