Zac Gallen has been on a legendary run of late, having thrown 44.1 consecutive scoreless innings.
The Arizona Diamondbacks ace has been virtually unhittable through that stretch of games.
But all good things must come to an end eventually, and such can be said for the legendary scoreless streak that Gallen had put together.
While he still earned the win yesterday against the Colorado Rockies, going six innings and improving his record to 12-2, he allowed three fourth-inning runs and saw his streak of scoreless innings officially come to an end.
Though the streak is gone, it certainly won’t be forgotten, as it ended up being the seventh-longest scoreless streak by any pitcher in the history of baseball.
What an achievement for Zac Gallen 👏

Gallen Makes History With Scoreless Streak
With the Diamondbacks well out of postseason contention, a streak like this might get swept under the rug a little bit, but the way Gallen has pitched should not go unnoticed.
He’s in some legendary company with this recent scoreless streak, joining guys like Orel Hershiser, Bob Gibson, Zack Greinke, and Brandon Webb, the latter two of whom pitched several years in Arizona and were some of the best pitchers in franchise history.
Gallen is slowly but surely turning himself into an ace at the big-league level and is a huge piece for the D’Backs going forward as they look to take some steps towards respectability.
His 2.50 ERA is third best in the National League and has him right in the mix for the NL Cy Young Award behind Julio Urias and Sandy Alcantara.
There’s a lot to be excited about for Gallen.
We’ll see if he can stay hot and start another scoreless streak.
